At first glance, the light of the sacred flame emanating from a burning candle, the skull resting on Magadalene's lap, and the books sitting on the desk in the background appear to be a dead give away for "Magdalene with the Smoking Flame," the ca. 1640 Georges de La Tour painting that calls the Los Angeles County of Museum of Art home. But then, wait — there is a fur Christian Louboutin Platforms Puck boot atop the desk as well, and then the realization is made: It's a recreation!
The photograph is one of seven created present-day interpretations of classic works of art for Louboutin's f/w 2011 collection look book. Photographer Peter Lippmann created seven portraits inspired by the masterpieces, showcasing the shoes (and one shoulder bag) in a supporting role, making the new portraits pieces of art in themselves.

Jennifer Lopez Smoldering Hot at London Ball
Jennifer Lopez looked a hot mama of twins in a up-to-there reptile-printed long-sleeved dress with low-cut black top underneath at the Capital Radio Summertime Ball in London on June 12. Photo Credit: PR Photos
June 13, 2011, (Sawf News) - Jennifer Lopez looked a hot mama of twins in a up-to-there reptile-printed long-sleeved dress with low-cut black top underneath at the Capital Radio Summertime Ball in London on June 12.
While newly wed Princess Catherine,Christian Louboutin Specials Duchess of Cambridge, flaunted her first-class pins at a friend's wedding this weekend, J.Lo worked hers on the Capital Radio Summertime Ball in the British capital.
The forty-one-year-old mom of twins practically singed the entire red carpet of the pop concert in London's Wembley Arena, wearing an up-to-there reptile-printed long-sleeved dress with low-cut black top underneath. Makeup included smoky browns which set off the golden highlights in her hair, black eye pencil, and warm blusher and lip color.
Hair was left loose and unstyled, going with the wildness of her overall outfit. J.Lo topped it off with a pair of thigh-length snakeskin boots by Christian Louboutin which coordinated well with her dress while drawing attention to the Lopez legs.
The outfit could not have been a better pick for Jennifer, Christian Louboutin Pumps who performed for 75,000 ardent fans in the Arena. It showed that not only is the singer a music heavyweight but a style one as well.
Lopez landed in the UK a few days back in a private jet with her children Max and Emme. The American Idol judge graced the taping of the UK's So You Think You Can Dance finale and performed her single, "On The Floor."
With two hotties like Catherine and J.Lo on the scene, it doesn't get much better!

Jennifer Lopez Dons Snakeskin Everything In London: Is It Lovely Or Too Loud?
Jennifer got a little too exotic for her trip across the pond!
The Summertime Ball on Jun. 12 at London’s Wembley Stadium brought out some of the biggest international celebs, including American Idol judge and mogul Jennifer Lopez. The legendary fashionista is certainly known for pushing boundaries (Versace, Grammys, 2000, anyone?), but this look was a bit much for me!Decked out in a snakeskin dress and matching stiletto boots by Christian Louboutin shoes, she looked less like a glamazon and more like a character from her 1997 film Anaconda. I must say the boots are absolutely fabulous and they would have looked perfect with something simple, like a bandage dress or one of her trademark minis. However, this just did not work. Her hair and makeup are up to par — but let’s be honest, when J. Lo’s looking her worst, she’s still looking better than everyone else.
What do you guys think? Did she pull off snakeskin?

Faking It: DIY Louboutin Style Red Soles
Have you been lusting after a pair of red-soled shoes, but found yourself without the hundreds or thousands of dollars necessary to make that happen with authentic Christian Loboutins? Fakes from Chinese etailers abound online,Christian Louboutin shoes but if you prefer your knockoffs a bit more crafty do-it-yourself red sole options are becoming easier to come by.
First up is budding 16-year-old Irish entrepreneur Tara Haughton, who offers red shoe sole stickers through her company Rosso Solini. {Stylelist} It will cost you $25 for three pairs of stickers shoe stickers to transform the bottom of your heels from what’s likely black or beige to a more vibrant shade. While we’d be embarrassed to kick up a red soled heel to show a sticker peeling off, Haughton does offer a rainbow of other colors and patterns that are pretty interesting. There are baby blue sole stickers for brides, yellow stickers if you want in on the neon trend in a subtle way, and prints including polka-dots and animal print. All of which could introduce an eye-catching aspect to what’s normally a forgotten part of the shoe – similar to Louboutins, minus the embarrassment of looking like you were trying to make your shoes something they’re not.
What if you need something a bit more permanent though? Save Your Sole,Christian Louboutin Specials a London based company, offers half and full soles in a variety of colors including, of course, red. Half soles will set you back £9.95 (roughly $16 at current exchange rates) while a full sole is £12.95 (about $21). If you’re not a cobbler on the side, you will have to enlist the services of a professional shoe repair shop to have your shoes resoled, but the results should last longer than stickers. If you want to get a bit more hands on, the company also sells touch up sole paint in a variety of colors for £18.95 ($31) that should work for a few pairs of shoes.
And finally, if you’re in New York, Madison Avenue Spy {via the Cut} reports that Andrade Shoe Repair on the Upper East Side has the materials in stock (they use the same red rubber that Save Your Sole sells) and will pimp your soles for a mere $22-32 in total.
We know what the Louboutin reaction to those making red-soled shoes has been (a good old fashioned black and white lawsuit), so we have to wonder how sustainable these ideas are. It’s unlikely Louboutin will be able to sue every shoe repair who offers red sole repair, and stickers aren’t exactly part of the manufacturing process. Even without lawsuits, just be aware that while the red sole may be the most prominent visual indication of a Christian Louboutin Pumps, stickers or colored soles do not a designer shoe make, and designer shoes (or being mistaken for wearing them) doesn’t automatically equal style.

Michaels fit for new challenges
NEW YORK — On a Tuesday night in April, Jillian Michaels, the fitness guru,
Christian Louboutin Platforms sat down on a table at the Borders store in Columbus Circle and kicked off shiny beige Christian Louboutin pumps, revealing a blue pedicure. She was faced by a snaking line of hundreds, mostly women and teen girls (and a few potbellied men) clutching her sixth book, Unlimited: How to Build an Exceptional Life. The devotees, some of whom waited four hours to get their copies signed, approached Michaels tentatively, as if she might give them the kind of dressing-down she’s perfected as a confrontational trainer on NBC’s The Biggest Loser.
A few did get a tongue-lashing. "Do I smell cigarette smoke on you?" Michaels asked Lori Gorman, who had taken a bus in from Attleboro, Mass.
"No," Gorman lied. Michaels narrowed her eyes. "Yeah," Gorman, 47, admitted.
"Quit!" Michaels barked, also using an expletive, Christian Louboutin Wedges examples of which are littered throughout Unlimited.
But more often, Michaels was disarmingly chummy. She raised an arm to signal that fans could come in for a hug. Most did and lingered, whispering over her shoulder their tales of woe and transformation. Baby bump on display, Amy Lanzilotta, 31, from New York, told Michaels she plans to name her daughter Jillian because she was inspired by her "emotional strength."
Some making the pilgrimage, newly slender, were carrying Before-Jillian pictures in which they were unrecognizable. Cynthia Eyler, 40, who home-schools three of her four children in Westchester, Pa., used to tell them, "Don’t catch on fire, because Mom doesn’t run!"
After tracking her calories and workouts at the weight-loss site jillianmichaels.com, after her first 5K race and after 93 pounds had been shed, Eyler showed her idol a photo of the old her. "I want to thank you for changing my life," she said nervously.
Michaels’ life is changing, too. Last month, she left The Biggest Loser to pursue her dream of becoming a household name in health and wellness instead of just "America’s toughest trainer."
It didn’t take long for another network to make its move. This fall, Michaels will become the fifth host, and the only nonphysician,Christian Louboutin Boots on the CBS daytime show The Doctors. She will also be a special correspondent on CBS’ Dr. Phil, where one assignment will be to help teenage runaways face their demons.
The groundwork for the star trainer’s departure from The Biggest Loser was laid in part by her business partner Giancarlo Chersich, a former licensing agent who founded Empowered Media, a company to develop her brand, with her in 2008. Chersich said she had to agree to a few conditions, namely no sex tapes or DWI charges. "I don’t like drama."
The two have built a formidable fan base by emphasizing her softer, empathetic side. Michaels’ free Losing It With Jillian newsletter unflaggingly prods her 2.2 million subscribers not to sell themselves short, and it gives them diet tips and summarizes medical studies. On Facebook, she’ll scold her roughly 915,000 friends if she thinks they are disrespectful, as on May 9 after they criticized an old picture of a slender Rosie O’Donnell in a spiked revealing getup that Michaels had posted.
They also scold her, as when she implored fans to "grill instead of fry!" on Memorial Day but failed to praise troops.
Jillian Inc. has had considerable success and some glaring failures. Michaels, 37, has written six books (four made the New York Times bestseller list); has a performance and lifestyle clothing line with K-Swiss (a second batch is due in October); and has a dozen workout DVDs, including 30 Day Shred, the bestselling fitness DVD title of the last decade, according to Nielsen VideoScan.
In the last three years, NordicTrack has introduced at-home incline trainers that can access nearly 600 workouts during which Michaels encourages lonely users.
However, in the rush to meet the deadline, The Master Your Metabolism Cookbook (Crown Archetype, 2010) by Michaels was published without pictures. And NBC’s Losing It With Jillian dispatched her to "reboot" the lives of unhealthy families, but was not renewed after eight episodes. "The show didn’t work," she said.

The legendary fashionista is certainly known for pushing boundaries (Versace, Grammys, 2000, anyone?), but this look was a bit much for me!Decked out in a snakeskin dress and matching stiletto boots by Christian Louboutin Specials, she looked less like a glamazon and more like a character from her 1997 film Anaconda.
Did she pull off snakeskin?
luxury goes local
Finding the Asian Hermès is no easy task. Swinand likens it to the technology boom of the late 1990s,Christian Louboutin Wedges when start-ups were common but many failed as soon as they had begun. “The trick is to find the Google,” he says. Even Anthony Bolton, the renowned UK stockpicker who now manages a China fund, says Chinese demand for western brands is so insatiable it is hard to spot local rivals.
“I have been searching to find the Chinese luxury brands of tomorrow, but so far with little success,” he says. “That said, I’m sure they will emerge at some point in the future.”
Some investors are watching consumer behaviour for tips. James Morse, chief executive of Squarestone Brasil, a property company that invests in Brazilian shopping malls, says the country’s own designers, including Carlos Miele,Christian Louboutin Boots Cris Barros and Osklen, appeal to rich consumers who want designer labels at a cheaper price.
The designers also appeal to locals who prefer a national flavour to their luxury. “If I were buying a T-shirt, I’d look at Osklen as it has a feel I wouldn’t get in a luxury brand in Europe,” says Morse. “The style of the formal range is very Brazilian.”
Wealthy consumers in Nigeria are also opting for local designers who have an African influence in their work.
“Nigerian women in general are more comfortable wearing Nigerian clothing. Increasingly, the first choice for the well-dressed and wealthy Nigerian woman would be to wear leading Nigerian brands,” says Nimi Akinkugbe, regional director of Barclays Wealth in west Africa. “Before now, they tended to wear European brands.”
Swinand points out that brands with a local flavour can often use this as a marketing tool. In China, he predicts, “there’ll be a sense of national pride or even local pride regionally –Christian Louboutin shoes just like in the US there are brands that play better in California than in New York”.
Others are waiting for emerging-market designers to make share offerings. While Prada hopes to raise up to $2.6bn in its Hong Kong initial public offering, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery, a local designer, is also planning a $3bn-$4bn IPO in Hong Kong next year. Powerland launched an IPO in Germany in April.
However, some believe it makes more sense to look for opportunities just below the luxury level. According to a report from Credit Suisse, the investment bank, wealthy consumers in emerging markets often prefer international brands for discretionary goods such as cars and fashion, but are happy to buy local brands for essential goods such as food.
This trend has convinced Kirkham, manager of JPMorgan’s consumer fund, to buy local brands such as Want Want – the food manufacturer behind Hot-Kid, a popular brand – and Vinda, a household paper manufacturer, for his portfolio.
Kirkham also suggests Liming Shoes as one Chinese-branded company that is doing a good job of lending an air of elitism to its footwear brand, which is the third most popular in China, behind Nike and Adidas. The company has resisted flooding the market and kept prices reasonably high – although they are still three-quarters of the price of western brands.
Such local enterprises, the fund manager believes, have better growth prospects than their western rivals as they sell to emerging-market consumers, whose wealth is growing at a faster rate than in the sluggish west, where international luxury companies still have the bulk of their sales.
“When I can find a reasonably priced local brand with longevity, I get a faster growth rate as it’s a pure play,” explains Kirkham. “I wish I could find more, as the consumption story is so powerful.”
Nevertheless, analysts agree that western luxury brands have nothing to worry about from emerging-market brands – yet.
Brazilian shoppers still happily pay premiums of as much as 100 per cent for this season’s Louis Vuitton rather than buy the same item abroad for half the price, to be sure of getting the bag they want, according to Morse.
And Michael O’Sullivan, head of UK research at Credit Suisse Private Banking, says locals are often mistrustful of domestic brands, with international brands sometimes akin to a currency. Louis Vuitton handbags may be used as business sweeteners, for example, with any gift made including the authenticity certificate to prove it is not a fake.
“The vast majority of all luxury goods sold remain western brands,” says Kirkham. “It takes years and years to build a brand. Realistically, I don’t see the emergence of any strong local brands any time soon.”

Prada or Powerland? Diane von Furstenberg or Deola Sagoe? Christian Louboutin Evening or Cris Barros? Western consumers might be familiar with the first names in these pairs, but many will probably have never heard of the others.
Yet wealthy consumers in emerging markets are increasingly facing a choice of whether to buy western brands as a status symbol or to opt for homegrown luxury.
Powerland, the Chinese handbag maker, Sagoe, the Nigerian fashion designer, and Barros, the Brazilian designer, are among the handful of luxury brands in developing markets that are gaining popularity with high-end consumers.
Brands such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci have had a stronghold in emerging markets for years. China now has more than a million millionaires, according to Boston Consulting Group, while spending on luxury goods by Chinese consumers is predicted to rise by 18 per cent a year to about $27bn by 2015 – surpassing even Japan, according to a report by McKinsey, the consultancy.
Investors in the west have long advocated buying into western luxury brands as a way of tapping into emerging-market growth without the risks of investing in domestic companies, where political risks remain and attention to shareholder needs may be less concentrated.
Mutual funds such as the Julius Baer Luxury Brands fund in Switzerland or the JPMorgan Global Consumer Trends fund,Christian Louboutin Platforms run by Peter Kirkham in the US, have portfolios including luxury goods groups such as LVMH and Swatch, US accessories line Coach, and Richemont, owner of high-end jeweller Cartier.

But domestic brands are snapping at their heels. Paul Swinand, retail analyst at Morningstar, the data provider, says: “Analysts from China that I’ve talked to have been in agreement that the next generation of growth will be a new wave of local brands.
“It looks like Louis Vuitton, Hermès [the silk tie and handbag maker] and Coach are growing strongly, but that’s from the foothold they already have. The exciting part is people we don’t know already – those that have five stores but will have 100.”

Rihanna is paying a price for wearing sky-high heels on stage. She stumbled and tripped again during a show in Edmonton, Canada.Christian Louboutin Sandals But ever the trouper, she kept right on singing as she picked herself up.
The 23-year-old singer was walking across the stage in stiletto boots and suddenly slammed down on her hands and knees in the middle of a song.
She paused for a moment, stood up on her knees and started singing again, without missing a word.
As she got up, she made a gesture to her back up dancers, suggesting an “Oh well,” and continued with the tune.
She’s had similar mishaps at a concert in London, so by now she’s a pro at the stumble-and-recover move. Maybe she’ll work it into her act.

How girls manage to walk in high heels
Ever wondered how ramp models manage to walk in 10-inch heels without tipping over? The answer lies in physics, it seems.
Safe stilettos seems fairly straightforward:Christian Louboutin shoes Two parts sacrifice and a dash of solid steel, said Fred Allard, creative director for Nine West, one of the world's largest manufacturers of women's shoes, reports Fox News.
It turns out, there's a formula to avoid tripping in heels: In 2004, researchers at the University of Surrey devised an equation that uses shoe size, the Pythagorean theorem, and several sociological variables to calculate how high heels can safely go.
Variables in the equation include aesthetic appeal of the shoe,Christian Louboutin Specials experience in wearing high heels, how many months the shoe has been in style, and even the amount of alcohol consumed.
The cost of the shoe plays a factor too, said Dr. Paul Stevenson of the University of Surrey, who developed the equation.
In most cases, five inches seems to be the max, though Allard said Nine West puts no limit on the height of a heel.
But wearing heels comes at a cost. They demand sacrifice: Sacrifice in comfort. Sacrifice in practicality. Sacrifice in stability. Sacrifice in mobility. And in some cases, sacrifice in health, including knee, hip, feet, and back injury, as documented by WebMD.
As for the health risks, the weight of a woman's body is almost entirely focused on a heel the size of a pencil eraser, which creates immense pressure for such a small area. Much more, in fact, than a 6,000-pound elephant -- which explains why elephants can walk on grass but women in spike heels can't without sinking into the ground.
That said,Christian Louboutin Pumps heels can also have a positive effect on well-being.
"They have a way of making me feel better about myself," said Dani Gooch, a high-heeled mother of two.
"In that sense, I feel more confident in them than I do in other shoes."

Glastonbury festival 2011, review
Beyonce brought the sunshine to Glastonbury. Somehow the very idea of the urban pop queen strutting her stuff in mud-spattered wellies and pac-a-mac seems wrong, Christian Louboutin Platforms illustrating the disparity between her glamorous image and the down and dirty dairy farm festivities.
But the weather proved obliging, drying the gloopy surface just in time for Beyonce and her dancers to take to the Pyramid stage on Sunday in improbably high heels. When her husband Jay Z played Glastonbury, there were questions about whether hip hop fitted the festival’s hippy spirit, but Beyonce has a band to match the best, a ripe horn section and a voice capable of pyrotechnical twist and turns to match any lead guitar solo.
A great, sassy frontwoman who knows how to lead a call and response,Christian Louboutin Wedges she ended the festival with a real party spirit. “I always wanted to be a rock star!” she yelled.
It is sometimes suggested that Glastonbury isn’t really a rock festival any more, and there is some truth in that: it’s more like an-end-of-the-world party being staged at the scene of a humanitarian disaster. But this year they did showcase some of Britain and Ireland’s most epic rock bands.
U2 missed last year’s sunshine festival because Bono put his back out. They finally made it this year, in the drizzle. Bono sang a snatch of Jerusalem, serenading the bedraggled revellers with a vision of England’s green and pleasant land. To be fair, you couldn’t really see the mud from the Pyramid stage, just a vast hillside of humanity, waving flags, burning flares and singing along in lusty voice to Where the Streets Have No Name,Christian Louboutin Boots a song written about a desert but which applied just as easily to Glastonbury’s blitzkrieged fields.
High heels could cause UK 'arthritis crisis'
A quarter of women wear high heels every day or frequently,Christian Louboutin Sandals a poll by The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists found, increasing their risk of getting the debilitating condition.
High heels affect body posture, placing more pressure on foot, ankle and knee joints. This can cause stress to the cartilage and lead to the onset of osteoarthritis.
Yet the poll of 2,000 people found that 22% thought arthritis was an inevitable part of getting older and 36% of people did not know much about the condition.
Poor footwear, together with increased levels of obesity and people living longer, could cause an “arthritis crisis”, Christian Louboutin Evening the society warned.
At least eight million people in the UK already suffer from the condition, which causes pain and stiffness in joints, and levels are rising.
60% of cases are in feet and arthritis is both more common and more severe in women.
Professor Anthony Redmond, a podiatrist and arthritis researcher from the society, said: “Although you are more likely to develop arthritis as you get older, it can occur at any.
“Choosing the right footwear will help minimise the stress placed on the feet and joints during everyday activity and helps reduce the risk of injury and joint damage.
“For daily wear, the recommendation is to opt for a round-toed shoe with a heel height of no more than 2-3cm (one inch) and with a shock-absorbent sole to help minimise shock to the joints.”
More than three quarters of both men and women surveyed in the poll did not wear shoes specifically designed for the sport they played when exercising, also increasing the likelihood of developing osteoarthritis.
Prof Redmond said: “Those who wear trainers that are not designed for sporting activity are placing themselves at real risk.
"With forces through the joints exceeding eight times the body weight during some sports, the importance of matching the right footwear to the activity cannot be overstated.”
While 65% have suffered stiffness or pain in their lower body and feet, only half have sought help for their symptoms.
Prof Redmond said: “If you do experience frequent pain in your feet or ankles, don't ignore it, as something can always be done.
“Some forms of arthritis start first in the feet and early treatment is vital to achieving the best long-term outcome.”

'Horses and High Heels' review: Diva of darkness Marianne Faithfull turns to optimism in rock album
After stressing art songs between 1987's "Strange Weather" and '98's take on Kurt Weill's "Seven Deadly Sins,"Christian Louboutin shoes Faithfull has dedicated the last decade to pop and rock pieces written for her by a younger generation of fawning geniuses (from PJ Harvey to Jarvis Cocker).
Faithfull's last four albums have inspired lines of such folks around the block, clamoring to collaborate with her. And who can blame them? Like the actress every director knows can make a scene ring true, or the model every designer feels will make their vision flesh, Faithfull's knowing voice makes any writer's notions deeper.
For the new CD, Faithfull offers nine covers (some well-established, some penned just for her) plus four original collaborations,Christian Louboutin Specials this time with lesser-known writers. Ironically, they've given her some of the most gripping tunes she has had since her defining work, 1979's "Broken English."
"Prussian Blue" has a mid-'60s Dylanesque jangle, while "Eternity" claims a similar folk-rock resonance, as well as something both clever and self-referential: a sample from old friend Brian Jones' seminal Moroccan recordings of 1968.
Such allusions tip off the essence of the CD: It's the first true classic-rock record from a woman whose myth remains intimately bound up with that era.
There's a cover of a song by overlooked '60s Brit soul-man Jackie Lomax (his wry, Stones-like "No Reason"), a run at Lesley Duncan's rapturous "Love Song" (best known from Elton John's 1970 cover), plus that take on "Goin' Back," which revives moving lyrics many leave out.
Yet it's Faithfull's performance that transforms these songs into plays. Her oration turns the Shangri-Las' campy "Past,Christian Louboutin Pumps Present and Future" into the stuff of a Edith Piaf drama and she gets all the moral nuance out of a brilliant, alt-country song by playwright R.B. Morris, "That's How Every Empire Falls." It helps that her longtime producer Hal Willner has never made her damaged voice sound more agile or full.
"I know that it's not over," Faithfull sings defiantly at the end of the song "Eternity." "I'm not letting go."

Ms Hurley has become a regular at the Ampney Crucis summer fete since moving from London to the 400-acre Ampney Knowle organic farm in Gloucestershire in 2008.
