“You press a button and the heel comes off,” said founder and CEO Candice Cabe, 30. “You can pick and choose whichever heel height you’d like to put on. This eliminates the need to have to carry extra shoes with you everywhere you go.”
That idea sprang from a business trip to a Miami trade show, for which Cabe’s then-boss advised her to pack lightly and carry a small suitcase. With a schedule that included a boat cruise, walking the trade show floor and a fancy dinner,Christian Louboutin Specials Cabe packed a bunch of shoes that looked the same but had different heel heights.
“I thought it would be really cool to have one pair of shoes that had multiple heel heights so it would be easier for traveling and make a lot more sense,” she said.
Design challenges included making a shoe that was fashionable, reliable, safe and very easy to use, and didn’t require a tool.
“The last challenge is making sure it’s not super-expensive to manufacture,” Cabe said.
Day2Night has a few working prototypes with locally made heels on China-made shoes of black leather with flexible soles. The heels take seconds to detach and snap into place, according to Cabe.
“Right now, it’s just one style and color,” she said. “We’re working with a shoe designer in New York City, and she’s putting together 10 to 12 pairs of different designs that will be in our debut shoe collection.”
But the company, which to date has been bootstrapped, needs funding to start mass production of the patent-pending shoes.Christian Louboutin Pumps It hopes to attract investors and raise $150,000 in initial seed capital.
It’s using Kickstarter, an online fund-raising platform, to raise some of that money and take pre-orders. As of Thursday, it had raised $4,191 from 39 backers toward its $15,000 goal.
“It’s a good way to increase buzz and get initial capital while we’re still developing,” Cabe said.
