HIT reality shows The Only Way Is Essex and Geordie Shore have sparked a surge in sales of high heels in the areas where they are filmed.
Fashion chain Peacocks confirmed that its shops in Newcastle and Essex had seen a 45 per cent hike in high heel sales over the past year as women try to copy the style of stars like TOWIE's Amy Childs. Yet sales in other regions haven't gone up.
Last month they sold 20 pairs AN HOUR in their Essex outlets and 15 pairs an hour in the group's Newcastle shops.
Peacocks spokesman Yvonne Mackenzie said:Christian Louboutin Pumps "It's interesting to see such a rise in sales in these particular areas, especially with high heels.
"We'll be keeping a close watch when the next series of The Only Way Is Essex starts to see if the pattern continues."
A recent poll of over 3,000 British women claims 25 per cent cannot live without shoes.
And 20 per cent would rather spend their money on fashion than their husbands or pets.
